Q: What do I wear to a Yin Yoga class?
A: Yoga / exercise wear is ideal for a Yin Yoga class. Clothing should allow for free movement. Comfort is an important aspect of Yin Yoga, and as you will not be generating your own heat during the Yin Yoga class, you may feel cold. So you might like to bring an extra layer, wear leggings and socks to keep yourself comfortable during your practice.
Q:Do I need any yoga experience to practice Yin Yoga?
A: No. You do not need any prior experience of Yin Yoga or Yoga in general. The nature of the slow-paced largely floor-based practice provides time for students to access the poses and find the shape that is suitable for them.
Q: Do I need to be fit to practice Yin Yoga?

Q: I have a sore [...insert body part...], will I be able to practice Yin Yoga?
A: Yin Yoga can be very complimentary for many injuries. The practice supports the body's natural healing process and can speed up recovery. It is always advised to seek doctors permission before performing any exercise. Students must notify the instructor of any injuries prior to the start of any class. You may be asked to sit-out some poses to prevent aggravating injuries. People with severe injuries should wait until they are healed prior to attending a class.

Q: What time should I arrive for a class?

Q: What sensations will I feel practicing Yin Yoga?
A: Listening to your body is a fundamental aspect of Yin Yoga (and arguably life!). So in order to prevent injury and maximise the benefits of your practice, students need to bring their attention to the sensations that they feel throughout their body. The good news is that Yin Yoga provides the time, space and quiet to listen. The poses can bring new and uncomfortable sensations, but not all sensations are bad. The good sensations worthy of exploring are stretching, pulling, tension, pressure, heat and breath. While sensations that must not be ignored are pain (especially sharp, shooting, intense, worsening), resistance, numbness, cramp, tingling, dizziness, headaches, worsening of injuries. Breathing difficulties, including holding breath to accomplish a pose must not be ignored.
Q: Can I attend if I am pregnant?
A: While Yin Yoga can be very advantageous for pregnant women, the increased production of a hormone called relaxin can present mobility challenges that need to be handled carefully. It is recommended that pregnant students participate in a local pregnant specific class.
